When I did this list right before all the Oscar movies started coming out, Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the nominees in the major categories, because it might be the best movie I’ve seen in the last 10 years.
While the big Oscar hopefuls (Fabelmans/The Whale) didn’t really do a lot for me, the fall came through with some amazing foreign films (Decision to Leave, Close, The Banshees of Inisherin) and a great documentary slate that pushed out all the early nominees (All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Navalny, Good Night Oppy to name a few).
